Youth Pastor

Elias moved to Belen in 2001, attending Central Elementary, Belen Middle School, and Belen High School. He excelled in school (sports and academically) and graduated in 2010 and enlisted into the United States Army serving three and a half years in the Infantry, serving one tour in Afghanistan from 2011-2012. Elias then pursued construction work but was involved with alcohol and narcotics of various sorts. In the summer of 2014, he suffered a car accident which rendered him paralyzed from the waist down. Overwhelmed with his dim future, he continued to engage in alcohol and drugs and became hopeless. Not being able to see a purpose in living, suicide became a very prevalent thought to escape life and its troubles. Seriously contemplating suicide, his father encouraged him to attend Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley in October 2016 and one month later surrendered his life to Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

He became involved in the children and youth ministry and tried to find his calling while attending UNM-Valencia for a semester but realized it wasn’t for him. Being committed
to the church he worked an outside job at a local gym, while actively pursuing Christ. In April 2018, he met Angelica who was part of the worship team and in April 2019 they became husband and wife.

In May of 2019, he was offered an intern position and became a fulltime CCRGV staff member. He currently serves as a deacon and intern, with his focus being the Jr. High, High School, and Young Adult Ministries. His wife serves alongside of him, serving on the worship team and working at Canon Christian Academy.
