Isaiah 6 - A Call To Serve The Holy One - Pastor Mike Nasci
Isaiah 6 presents us with one of the most transformative encounters in Scripture—a vision of God's throne room that forever changed a prophet's life and ministry. We journey through three essential movements: woe, behold, and go. Before we can ever be sent out with God's message, we must first stand in His holy presence and recognize our own unworthiness. The seraphim cry out 'Holy, holy, holy'—a threefold declaration emphasizing the absolute, incomparable holiness of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. When Isaiah sees this spectacular vision, with God's robe filling the temple and angelic beings covering their faces in reverence, his response is immediate: 'Woe is me, I am undone.' This isn't casual acknowledgment of sin; it's a gut-wrenching recognition that he stands as an unclean person before perfect holiness. Yet this is precisely where transformation begins. God doesn't condemn Isaiah—He purifies him with a burning coal from the altar, touching his lips and declaring his sin removed. Only then, after experiencing both conviction and cleansing, does Isaiah hear God's call: 'Whom shall I send?' And his response becomes the only possible answer for a transformed heart: 'Here I am, send me!' This pattern challenges us today: Have we truly encountered God's holiness? Have we allowed Him to touch and transform our unclean areas? And are we ready to respond with absolute surrender to whatever He calls us to do, even if the task seems impossible or the audience unwilling to listen?
